I rode Reba and my sister rode Dancer on our trip out to Driftwood Beach. There were seven people in our group from a young child to an older couple with mobility issues and all seemed so happy at the end of the ride. There was a platform with steps to make mounting easier and the staff was assisting to assure everyone's safety and that they were comfortable in the saddle. Her friendliness along with the rest of the staffs good nature made everyone at ease, even the mom who had never ridden and was concerned with her daughter. My sister and I are in our 60s and we couldn't stop smiling the whole ride! Tammy was our guide and she was very competent in her job, making sure everyone had a horse to match their size and that the horses all stayed together on the trail and everyone felt secure and was having a good time. It's not so much giving a tip as multiple reminders that seems tacky. I forgot to ask what the 15% service charge is for. The message is on their site, a sign in the building where we watch the video, on their t-shirts and it's repeated in the video. The only indifference I have about our experience is the multiple times it is suggested that we tip the guide. I felt so bad that the flies would not leave him alone! The guide did ask us several times if we were okay and we always gave her a thumbs up. Personally, it would have distracted me from enjoying Booker and his gentle spirit. Well, ours, Callie, was five horses up from me and I wouldn't have heard her anyway. One reviewer wrote the guide did not talk to you. You're not galloping through a field of sunflowers! ) haha The path itself goes along side the forest. The Maritime forest might be the technical name, but it's an open field of brush and plants. The path itself is nothing notable, but it's an hour and you have to turn around at some point. Everyone was pleasant and made sure we were comfortable on our horse. Can't say if the prices are competitive because I think it's the only riding service on the island. We only had time for an hour ride and might try a longer ride in the future. The ride was nice and I honestly got a horse with a great disposition, Booker.
